Animate Your Night: Fantasyland Flair - A Review

Review of Animate Your Night at the Walt Disney Family Museum | www.anyhappylittlethoughts.com

This past Friday night, I attended a special event open to the public at the The Walt Disney Family Museum. I asked a friend to join me, and so we arrived in the Presidio promptly at 7:00 and made our way into the museum. But oh the irony that we had to wait in a line to get in the doors. Luckily it moved quickly and we were soon greeted with smiling faces and the sounds of live music. Yay! I was excited.

On Capturing Magic - Capturing Magic Outside the Theme Parks

I have a blog post this week on Capturing Magic about photo opportunities outside of the theme parks but still within Walt Disney World. You CAN have a fun and memorable vacation without stepping foot in the parks. Check out these tips for your non-park days or for a budget friendly trip when you need a Disney fix!

Using How-To-Draw Sketches in Your Memory Keeping

how-to-draw sketches in your scrapbooks, memory keeping, and art projects | www.anyhappylittlethoughts.com

When I was looking for Muppet-related images to use in my scrapbook, I came across a series of How-to-Draw printables for some of the most popular characters. They were offered via Disney as a free promotion for the most recent Muppet movie, Muppets Most Wanted. I thought they would make for a unique addition to my scrapbook album. The concept is very basic so it is fairly easy to follow, plus the end result is a small piece of artwork rendered by my own hand.

If you are a child of the 1970s or 1980s, The Muppets are quite likely a part of your pop culture history. They definitely are for me. I will be sharing my memories of, and fondness for, these adorably kooky cast of characters in later posts, but for the purpose of this article, it is all about the music of and by The Muppets.

With the recent release of Muppets Most Wanted, it got me thinking about my fondness of the characters and the variety of ways the Muppets have been in my life, beginning with my childhood. I have pulled together those memories and will share in later posts how I conveyed those memories in my scrapbook pages. But for now, I have two mood boards that show two similar yet different impressions of The Muppets.

The Green Side of Disney - Project Life + Pocket Style Scrapbooking Sampler

journaling and insert card sampler, sources linked on blog - Disney inspired memory keeping | www.anyhappylittlethoughts.com

If you are a digital or hybrid scrapbooker, you have so many more options available to you because of the internet. That is where I find the majority of the journaling and insert cards that I use or create for my albums. Online scrapbook retailers, designer's blogs, and official Disney downloads will become your best friends once you get started in this process. I also created a couple of quote cards with my own very simple design using Microsoft Word or PicMonkey. Because I am not an experienced PSE user, I rely on Word, PicMonkey, and Picasa for almost all of my digital-based elements. Most of the downloaded material I found from Disney include their phone wallpapers, and pdf guides from previous festivals. These are easy to crop in your editing software to the sizes you need. And don't forget patterned paper - easy to cut to size and provides instant color, pattern, and even texture.

To celebrate spring and for those who enjoy the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, I created a story for my album that focuses on the greener side of Disney. Keep reading to see how I documented my assortment of photos, including ideas for customizing elements and journal cards for layouts. As Alice and the Flowers of Wonderland said, "You can learn a lot of things from the flowers...."

There is no official music or soundtrack associated with Epcot's International Flower & Garden Festival (at least that I could find) - so I created one instead! It should come as no surprise that the 1960s produced some memorable songs and the catchphrase "flower power," which has been translated into the theme of Epcot's festival concert line-up. From wearing flowers in your hair (Scott McKenzie) to "Grazing in the Grass" (The Friends of Distinction), there are some great songs that remind me of listening to the oldies radio station in the car as a kid. I discovered an excellent cover of "Kiss from a Rose" acapella-style (Seal and Straight No Chaser), and a fun song from the movie Juno titled "Tree Hugger." Bambi and Alice in Wonderland movie soundtracks are represented, and give the playlist a dose of Disney whimsy and magic.
